Success Gone Failure: Sorry. Try Again!
This app has become a saddening shadow of itself. What came as a fresh alternative to the likes of Google Now with a friendly personality contrary to Siri is now a pitiful knockoff of its former self.
What was intuitive and quick in Windows Phone 8.1 is now broken and slow everywhere else: Windows 10, iOS, everywhere.
Where voice interaction was smooth and accurate it is now broken and useless; Most attempts at voice interaction just results in a long wait followed by a pointless return to the main card view with no acknowledgement of a request.
Where search results were cleanly integrated as if made for the software they now feel worse than its creators own Bing app, as if a diluted webpage was haphazardly inserted into the app as an afterthought.
Where information was once spoken to us, as if the assistant knew, is now pulled up as if we just typed the text into bing, only worse.
And the Today widget? A basic, static list of reminders with a button to open the app. When we have widgets like Yahoo! Weather, OneNote, & Clips, theres no excuse for somethings that basic out of an app thats supposed to be a catch all one-stop information powerhouse.
What could of been played off as being in beta on another platform is now clearly seen as a mistake; Its no different on Windows itself.
I can read my news through MSN or Apple News; I can get my reminders through iOS reminders and even sync them to my Outlook.com calendar; The weather is better and more beautiful from Yahoo! of all places; HERE Maps can handle my navigation needs; Siri handles on-tap information and Bing is there with a more visual and appealing representation when i need to tap or type out more.
Why do I need Cortana at all if Apples own software plays better with Microsoft services and 3rd parties can fill in the gaps? If you dont get rhetorics, I dont.
I am dissatisfied Microsoft. You should be deeply ashamed of yourself for all the backtracking and change-for-change-sake that lead to this hot mess.
